THE LORDS PLEDGE TO THE BELIEVER - Part 1
Psalm 145:14-20 Rev. Collis B. Smith Jr. 8-6-23
1. THE LORD’S PLEDGE FOR THE FALLING- vs.14
“All” in the text is not universal, the way “all” is being used is in an exclusive sense (those who belong to Him).
a) Lessons To Be Learned From Falling - Failing and falling will show you just who you are and what you are made of! When a person lives an arrogant, prideful, and self-righteous lifestyle, a fall is imminent. Proverbs 16:8, Romans 12:3, Proverbs 8:13, Proverbs 16:5, Proverbs 11:2 Psalms 103:14, Galatians 4:19, Psalm 103:14
b) Get Back Up After The Fall - If you have blown it big time, don’t think that it is over because of what you have done. YOU ARE NOT YOUR MISTAKE! Don’t allow your mistakes to define who you are! God is not through with you yet. The deeper the fall, the deeper the grace!
Proverbs 24:16, Psalm 37:24. Galatians 4:19, Romans 5:20
c) There Is Grace To Cover The Fall - People love handcuffing you to your fall, and enjoy reminding you and others about the mistakes you have made. It’s so good Lord isn’t like that! Romans. 8:1-2; 1 John 1:8-9; 1 Peter. 5:7 Matthew 11: 28-30
2. THE LORD’S PLEDGE FOR PROVISION
a) The Expectation of Provision – v.15a Believing that something will happen on their behalf. Psalm 27:13; Philippians 4:19
b) The Timing of The Provision – v. 15
Yahweh as Jehovah – “the God Who provides” or “the God of my supply.”.
In our times of need we must expectantly wait on God and believe by faith that He will provide. Your Due Season is coming! Psalm 37:25;
c) The Grace and Favor of the Provision – v. 16
Jesus is The God who gives to all living things through an open hand rather than a clenched fist. God is ready to show rather than withhold favor.
God freely and generously gives to His children. God meets the needs of every living thing. And because we belong to God – Surely Goodness and Mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23:6
